Looking for a bouldering gym in the Basel area? BoulderCenter Grenzach-Wyhlen sits right on the Swiss border and is about 20 minutes from Basel – with 1,200 m² of bouldering surface, around 300 problems across 8 grades and access around the clock.
Why people from Basel climb with us
24/7 access
You can climb here around the clock, independently of conventional opening hours – before work, late at night on warm summer evenings, or at the weekend. Everything runs online with PayAsYouGo, at the best available price.
Fair prices in euros
As a gym on the German side we offer good value: a day pass for adults costs €16, or €12 with the Early Bird rate. Our Saturday Happy Hour costs €9 – come between 18:00 and 24:00 and climb as long as you like.
Problems for every level
From your very first boulder to demanding projects, you will find varied routes across eight grades. Regular resetting means there is always something new.
Free parking
Free parking spaces are available directly in front of the hall, so there is no hunting for a space and your session can start straight away.
Getting here from Basel and the tri-border area
By car
From Basel it takes about 20 minutes via the A2/A3 towards Rheinfelden, exit Grenzach-Wyhlen. Being right at the border keeps the journey simple. From Lörrach, Rheinfelden and Weil am Rhein you are with us in roughly 15 to 20 minutes. You do not need a motorway vignette in Germany.
By public transport
Travel to Basel Bad Bf and change there to the Hochrheinbahn towards Waldshut – get off at Grenzach station, from where it is a short walk. Because we have no fixed closing time, you can plan your session comfortably around the timetable.
By bike
The centre is easy to reach by bike too. Many guests from Basel and Riehen use the cross-border cycle paths along the Rhine and turn the journey into part of the workout.
